Pair of Designated Indians Dealt to Dodgers

April 10, 2016 |

The Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers completed a trade this afternoon, as the Tribe sent minor league outfielders James Ramsey and Zach Walters to the Evil Empire of the West for cash considerations.

Ramsey and Walters were both roster crunch casualties earlier in the week when the Indians needed to make room on the 40-man roster for Joba Chamberlain, Marlon Byrd, and Ross Detwiler. The two, along with reliever Giovanni Soto, were designated for assignment and the Indians had ten days to place the trio on waivers, trade, or release the prospects. Read More

Are the Kids Alright?

It’s the old dog you’re not supposed to be able to teach new tricks; youngsters are supposed to be the easily moldable. Yet, for the Cleveland Indians, it seems that the younger members of the team are the ones that are struggling to rise to the occasion and revamp their performances to be big league worthy.

Last year, there was an idea that the young members within the organization would rise to the challenge and become the backbone of the team. Zach Walters and Jose Ramirez would act as precursors to the greatness that would be Francisco Lindor, and Kyle Crockett would be the first 22 year old to make a huge impact on a Major League  bullpen.

This year, however, paints a different story. Read More

Did the Tribe Win Last Night? No! After scratching together three runs, the anemic Indians offense looked like it had done enough to give Trevor Bauer his third win of the season. Bauer pitched another seven strong innings. But staked to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, closer Cody Allen could only record one out before giving up four runs and blowing the game. Chicago wins the opener of the three game series, 4-3.

Key Inning: The bottom of the ninth inning. Allen came on for the save with a three run lead. He started the inning by striking out Adam LaRoche, but it would be the only out he would record.

Avisail Garcia doubled and Conor Gillaspie walked. They each advanced to scoring position when Allen uncorked a wild pitch. Alexei Ramirez doubled to plate them both and make it 3-2, putting the tying run in scoring position. Tyler Flowers singled to left field to put runners on the corners before Gordon Beckham singled to left field to tie the game at three. Read More
