The Cleveland Indians match a season-high by extending their winning streak to eleven straight games as they defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-4 at Cleveland Stadium.

Bob Feller improved to 13-3 with the win as the Indians improved to 109-40 on the season. Feller was charged with three runs on eight hits over six and two-thirds innings. He walked two and struck out one.

The Indians scored first in the bottom of the first as Vic Wertz drove in Bobby Avila on a single to left off of Bob Keegan. They opened the game wide open the next inning, as George Strickland reached on an error and Hal Naragon singled. A walk by Feller loaded the bases and Al Smith drove home Strickland with a sacrifice fly. After Avila flied out to left for the second out, Larry Doby sent a three-run shot over the fence to make it a 5-0 contest. Naragon tacked on another in the bottom of the third on a single to center to give the Indians six runs before the White Sox were able to get on the board.

The Sox scored in the fourth on a single from Sherm Lollar and put up two more in the seventh on an RBI-single from Minnie Minoso and an RBI-groundout from Jim Rivera. Lollar added another solo run in the eighth on a double to left, but Wertz hit a homer in the bottom of the inning to erase the damage.

Having already clinched the AL pennant, the Indians saw their lead in the standings grow to a season-high nine games.
