In the final season of baseball at Cleveland Stadium, the longtime home of the Indians sees one of its more bizarre home runs in its history in Cleveland’s 7-6 win over the Texas Rangers.

Down 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth, designated hitter Carlos Martinez stepped to the plate to lead off the inning against Texas left-hander Kenny Rogers. On a 2-1 pitch, he sent a long fly the opposite way to deep right field, where Rangers outfielder Jose Canseco raised his glove on the warning track, missed the catch entirely, and had the ball bounce off of his head and over the outfield wall for a home run.

The shot cut the Indians’ deficit to 3-2. They would take the lead six batters later and added three more runs in the sixth to pace starter Jose Mesa to a victory. Cleveland improved to 19-28 with the win, eleven games out and in last place in the AL East.
