Bob Feller allows just one hit, but is nailed with the loss as the Cleveland Indians fall, 1-0, to the St. Louis Browns.

The game was unique as a whole as both teams were limited to just one hit each in the contest. Feller allowed a leadoff triple to Bobby Young to start the game and he scored in the next at bat on an error by the third baseman. Feller retired 17 straight batters after the error until a pair of walks in the sixth inning, then retired the final seven he faced.

Browns pitcher Bob Cain retired 14 straight to end the game after a leadoff single to Luke Easter in the fifth, Cleveland’s only base knock. Cain had faced the minimum through the first four innings, as a pair of walks issued were erased on double plays.

Feller will throw a total of eleven official one-hitters of the complete nine-inning game variety, although this game will not be on his official tally, as he worked just eight innings against the victorious home team.
