The Cleveland Indians stave off elimination with three early runs in a 4-1 victory over the Florida Marlins in Game 6 of the 1997 World Series at Pro Player Stadium in Miami.
Ogea helped his own cause with a two-run bases loaded single off of Brown in the second. Matt Williams singled and walks from Jim Thome and Marquis Grissom sandwiched a fly out from Sandy Alomar to load the bases for the Tribe’s swinging starter.
Manny Ramirez added sacrifice flies in the third and fifth innings, scoring Omar Vizquel after his leadoff double and stolen base and later Ogea after his fifth inning leadoff double to right. Darren Daulton had a pinch-hit sacrifice fly for Brown for the Marlins’ only run in the bottom of the fifth. Florida had a chance with two in scoring position and two out in the sixth and a two-out, bases loaded situation in the seventh, but could not score against reliever Mike Jackson.
