The Cleveland Indians, off to an incredible start, sell out Jacobs Field for the sixth time this season. More notably, it will begin the team’s long streak of 455 consecutive home sellouts lasting through April 4, 2001.

The Tribe fell behind 2-0 in the game in the third before Omar Vizquel knocked in a run in the bottom of the frame. Three runs the next inning, including RBI hits from Eddie Murray and Wayne Kirby and a bases loaded walk from Vizquel, gave starter Charles Nagy the run support he would need to secure the win. The victory pushed the Indians 20 games over the .500 mark at 31-11.

The Indians started the season with a 4-3 road trip through Texas and Detroit before selling out their home opener against the Minnesota Twins. When they returned home at the end of May to begin a ten-game homestand, they were already 18-9 and four and a half games up in the division. Fans took note, selling out a Monday game against the White Sox on the 29th and then all three games of their weekend series with Toronto before hosting the Tigers. The series, while lacking any capacity crowds, averaged almost 35,700 fans and ended with a walk-off win in ten innings against Detroit on June 7th.
