Tom Hilgendorf, a reliever with the Tribe from 1972 to 1974, is born in Clinton, Iowa.

He was signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1960 and reached the Majors with the club in a pair of seasons in 1969 and 1970. He was traded by St. Louis to Kansas City, who sent him a year and a half later to Cleveland for utility guy Jim Clark.

Hilgendorf spent three seasons on the Indians roster, working mainly as a reliever. He was 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 19 games in 1972, 5-3 with a 3.14 ERA and six saves in 48 games in 1973, and 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA and three saves in 35 games in 1974. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the start of the 1975 season for minor league outfielder Nelson Garcia.

He went 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA in 53 games for the Phillies in what would be the last games of his MLB career.

1877Jack Lundbom, who spent all eight of his Major League games with the Cleveland Bronchos in 1902, is born in Manistee, Michigan.

1883Glenn Liebhardt, a four-year member of the Majors (spent entirely with the Cleveland Naps from 1906 to 1909), is born in Milton, Indiana. He won 18 games in his second season with the club and 15 in his third. His son later pitched in 31 games over three seasons for Philadelphia and St. Louis in the American League from 1930 to 1938.

1989Tyler Holt, member of the Indians from 2014 to 2015, is born in Marion, Indiana.
