Indians shortstop Joe Sewell, in his fourth season in the Majors, strikes out twice in one game for the first time in his 352-game career. Making this even more significant is that the future Hall of Famer will have a multiple strikeout game just one more time in his 14-year MLB career.

Rookie Washington Senators starter Cy Warmoth did the deed by getting the tough to strike out Sewell twice in a 5-2 Indians win. He had struck out just twice in his first 22 games that season. It will be another 31 games before he strikes out again, his longest streak of the year without striking out. He will not strike out twice in a game again until May 26, 1930, when he struck out twice in the second game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. He will finish that season with three total in 109 games in his final season with the Indians.

In his career, spanning eleven seasons in Cleveland and three with the New York Yankees, Sewell struck out 114 times in 8,333 trips to the plate in 1,903 games.
