Bob Feller adds a second no-hitter to the long list of his accomplishments already in his career as he blanks the Yankees in New York, 1-0.

The Yankees seemed to have runners on base throughout the game, but Feller kept them from scoring. Solo walks in each of the first four innings and again in the sixth created opportunities that the Bronx Bombers were unable to cash in on. The Indians were equally stifled in their scoring chances, as Lou Boudreau was unable to drive in any runs with the bases loaded and two outs in the first inning off of New York’s Bill Bevens and three double plays throughout the game cleared the bases of runners.

The Indians scored their lone run in the top of the ninth with one out, when Frankie Hayes hit a solo homer off of Bevens, who would finish the contest allowing one run on seven hits with five walks and five strikeouts. Feller earned his second win of the young season, striking out eleven. The no-hitter was the team’s first since 1940, when Feller threw the only Opening Day no-hitter in Major League Baseball history.
