Dick Bosman is born in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The right-handed Bosman debuted in June of 1966 with the Washington Senators. He spent six seasons with the club, leading the league in ERA with a 2.19 mark in 1969, before they moved to Texas to become the Rangers prior to the 1972 season. After a season and one month in the Lone Star State, he was dealt by the Rangers in May of 1973 to the Indians with Ted Ford for pitcher Steve Dunning.

His first season in Cleveland was a bit rocky. During that portion of his campaign, he was 1-8 in 22 games, including 17 starts. He earned a 6.22 ERA with the Indians and a 5.64 ERA for the season, the worst mark that he had posted since his rookie year. The next season, he had one of the highlights of his career, throwing a no-hitter against the Oakland A’s on July 19. He lost a potential perfect game on his own throwing error.

He finished the season 7-5 but, after an 0-2 start to his 1975 season, he was traded in May to those same Oakland A’s with pitcher Jim Perry for Blue Moon Odom and cash.
