Future Indians third baseman, manager, and scout Bill Bradley is born.

The Cleveland native returned to the city after playing a pair of seasons with the National League’s Chicago Orphans. Starting with the Blues in 1901, he became a regular in the Cleveland lineup, working primarily at the hot corner. He hit as high as .340 in 1902 while finishing second in the American League with eleven home runs.

He was a player-manager for the Naps in 1905, posting a 20-21 record. He played with Cleveland through the 1910 season. His numbers declining, he spent three seasons in the minors before returning to the pro level in the Federal League in 1914 with the Brooklyn Tip-Tops as a player-manager and in 1915 with the Kansas City Packers.

Following his playing career, he worked for 25 years as a scout for the Indians until 1953. He died the next year.
