After arguably one of the worst seasons of his Major League career, Cleveland superstar Bob Feller asks for and receives a pay cut following a disappointing 1949 season with the Indians. His salary decreases from $65,000 to $45,000.

The 30-year-old Feller was 15-14 in 36 games for the Tribe that season, posting the second highest ERA of his career (3.75 ERA) and his lowest win, innings (211), and strikeouts (108) totals in a full season in his career at that time. His strikeout rate was the worst of his career to that point.

The additional motivation may have done Feller some good, as he bounced back to a 16-11 record the next season with a 3.43 ERA in 35 games and his eighth (and final) trip to the All-Star Game.

His 1951 season would be even better, as he will go 22-8 and finish fifth in the MVP consideration.
