Grady Sizemore makes his Major League debut and pops up to second base in his lone plate appearance as the Chicago White Sox thump the Cleveland Indians, 14-0, at home.

Sizemore made his debut in the top of the ninth, taking over for Coco Crisp in center field, but Chicago’s Mark Buehrle was the story of the day. He faced the minimum in a complete game two-hit shutout of the Tribe, as a pair of double play balls erased the only two runners in the game. He struck out four and did not walk a batter in earning his tenth win of the season.

The White Sox jumped on Cliff Lee for seven runs on nine hits in four-plus innings of work, dropping the Cleveland starter’s record to 10-2 on the year. A pair of singles and a sacrifice fly in the first drove in three runs to give the Sox an early lead. Carlos Lee hit a two-run home run in the third to make it a 5-0 game. He led off the fifth with another home run off of Lee and after the Indians’ Lee hit Carl Everett, Jeriome Robertson took over on the mound and fueled the fire with a double, a single, a sacrifice fly, a double, a pop up for the first out of the inning, and then a home run by John Valentin and another hit by pitch immediately after a long ball to end Robertson’s outing.

The Sox added a single run off of Bob Howry in two and one-third innings on the mound and two more off of reliever Matt Miller in two innings of work. The 14 runs allowed for Tribe pitching came just one night after they scored 14 of their own on the Anaheim Angels.
