Bob Feller continues a strong start to his season as he throws his second one-hitter in the span of eleven days as he shuts out the Boston Red Sox, 2-0, at Cleveland Stadium.

Feller struck out ten and walked six batters in the one-hit effort that improved his record to 3-1 while dropping his ERA to a miniscule 0.26. He took a loss on Opening Day when he allowed two runs (one earned) in a 2-0 loss to Chicago. He threw a one-hit, ten-K shutout in a 5-0 victory over the St. Louis Browns on April 22nd, then followed it with a three-hit shutout versus Detroit on April 26th. With 35 innings tossed on the season, he has allowed just 14 hits, and just five in 27 innings over his last three starts. The day’s shutout also extended his consecutive scoreless inning streak to 29.

Unlike his one-hitter on the 22nd, in which he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, any suspense of a third career no-hitter for Feller was erased on a first inning single from Johnny Pesky. Feller was wild throughout the afternoon, walking six Red Sox batters, and pitched from behind in the count for much of the day.

The Indians offense only got to the Red Sox for two runs, but Feller made both stand. Joe Gordon delivered a leadoff homer in the second inning to the stands in left field, his second of the season, and Pat Seerey drove home Lou Boudreau in the fifth with an RBI-single.
