Ballots are in the Cleveland Plain Dealer sports section each day. Fans wishing to vote for the starters in both the American and National League can complete their ballot and mail it to the PD’s offices. Votes will be reported to the Chicago Tribune for final tabulation. Players receiving the most votes at each position will start for their respected leagues in the 15th All-Star Game in St. Louis.
Ken Keltner is currently in second among American League third baseman, behind Detroit’s George Kell. Kell has 19,715 votes, while Keltner has 17,162. Keltner leads the American League in home runs with 16, just one ahead of Joe DiMaggio.
DiMaggio leads the voting among center fielders, while Ted Williams leads in left field. Pat Mullin of Detroit heads up voting in right field, while George McQuinn of New York is the front-runner at first base and Buddy Rosar from Philadelphia is the leading catcher.
