Cory Snyder is born in Inglewood, California.

The Cleveland Indians’ first pick, fourth overall, in the 1984 draft came highly touted out of Brigham Young University. After a quick ascent through the minors solely as a third baseman and shortstop, Snyder debuted with the Indians on June 13th, 1986, as the team’s right fielder.

In 103 games that season, he hit 24 home runs and 69 RBI while batting .272, finishing fourth for the AL Rookie of the Year award. He hit 33 and 26 home runs in each of the next two seasons before his numbers declined. Following the 1990 season, he was dealt to the Chicago White Sox for a pair of pitchers.

Snyder spent time with Chicago, the Toronto Blue Jays, the San Francisco Giants, and the Los Angeles Dodgers at the MLB level before splitting a minor league season between the San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox organizations in 1995. The versatile Snyder played as many as seven different positions in one season (1992 with the Giants).
