Salazar Sends Tribe to Sixth in a Row; Indians 4, Blue Jays 2

The Indians used another strong outing from Danny Salazar and a few timely hits in a come-from-behind, 4-2 victory over the red-hot Blue Jays on Monday. The Tribe has won six in a row, and nine of the team’s last 11 games.

Salazar tamed a potent Jays offense, allowing two runs in seven innings, striking out 10. The outing was the seventh of Salazar’s career with 10 or more strikeouts, and his fifth such outing this season.

The Indians, though, trailed 2-1 into the seventh before the club got to work: Carlos Santana walked, Ryan Raburn doubled (scoring Santana) and Jerry Sands delivered a run-scoring single (scoring Raburn) to make it 3-2. Cleveland added a run in the ninth after back-to-back singles by Yan Gomes and Lonnie Chisenhall, then a Jays scoring error.

Salazar improved to 12-7, and has a 3.27 ERA; Salazar ranks 7th among AL starters in strikeouts, 9th in wins and 12th in ERA.
