Three-Run Seventh Inning Pushes Tribe to Opening Win; Indians 3, Angels 1

The Indians beat the Angels, 3-1, on Friday thanks to another bounceback outing from Trevor Bauer and some timely seventh-inning hitting. The Indians have won eight of their last 10 games at Progressive Field.

Bauer allowed one run in eight innings, striking out seven; . Cody Allen shut the door for his 27th save (T6 in AL).

The Indians rallied from a 1-0 deficit in a three-run seventh, as pinch-hitter Abraham Almonte got the rally started with an opposite field, RBI double. Jason Kipnis and Carlos Santana each followed with RBI singles. The Indians have had 10 or more hits in 10 straight games at home, marking the first time since 1936 the club has accomplished that feat.

Corey Kluber pitches today against Los Angeles’ Garrett Richards; over his last six starts, Kluber has allowed just a .177 opponents batting average and has a 12:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
