Bombers Use Long Ball to Set Down Tribe; Yankees 6, Indians 2

The Yankees answered an early Francisco Lindor homer with two of their own in the first and eventually beat the Indians, 6-2.

Lindor, who had three hits, homered in the first. But Brett Gardner and Brian McCann homered in the home half and the Yankees added two more in the second, on an error and a sac fly.

Danny Salazar, who had a 1.48 ERA through his last seven starts, struggled from the outset, though he did settle enough to throw 4.2 innings and strike out five. The Indians fell victim to a umpire’s decision in the third, after which Terry Francona was ejected.

Lonnie Chisenhall backed Lindor’s three-hit night with two of his own, including an RBI single in the eighth off Dellin Betances.

W: Luis Severino (1-2)

L: Danny Salazar (11-7)

HR: Lindor (6, 1st inning off Severino 0 on, 1 Out); Gardner (12, 1st inning off Salazar 1 on, 0 Out); McCann (22, 1st inning off Salazar 0 on, 1 Out)
