Indians starter Cody Anderson continued a recent surge by the team’s rotation, allowing one run in eight innings in a 1-0 loss to the Pirates on Saturday.
Anderson allowed an RBI single to Neil Walker, but otherwise was stellar. In his first three big-league starts – including carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning on Monday in Tampa – Anderson has allowed two runs in 23.2 innings (0.76 ERA).
The Indians only threatened once, as Jason Kipnis walked and Francisco Lindor singled with two out in the ninth. But Pittsburgh closer Mark Melancon got Michael Brantley to ground out to end the game.
