Trevor Bauer and, in his big-league debut, Toru Murata, took losses for the Indians.
Jason Kipnis had his 20-game hit streak – the longest in the Majors this year – snapped in the opener. Kipnis is still hitting .349 in June and .342 overall, third in the AL.
Michael Brantley had two hits in the opener, while David Murphy went 4-for-4 in the nightcap.
