Bullpen Reigns in Texas; Indians 8, Rangers 3

After Bruce Chen allowed three runs in the first inning and only survived 2.1 innings, the Tribe bullpen stepped in and tossed 6.2 scoreless frames. The fleet of Ryan Webb, Zach McAllister, Scott Atchison, Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen combined to allow just two hits. It was just what the Indians needed to win the opening game of the series, 8-3.

The win is only the second time this season that the Indians have won the opening game of a series. Nick Swisher drove in his first two runs of the season and the Tribe spoiled Adrain Beltre’s 400th career homer.

W: Ryan Webb (1-0)

L:  Wandy Rodriguez (1-2

HR: Brett Hayes (3, 6th inning off Fujikawa, 0 on, 0 out), Fielder (5, 1st inning off Chen 1 on, 1 Out); Beltré (5, 1st inning off Chen 0 on, 1 Out)
