St. Louis Takes Early Lead and Puts Tribe Away Late; Cardinals 8, Indians 3

Former Indians Mark Reynolds and Jhonny Peralta drove in runs early, and despite a three-run bottom of the seventh inning, Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer to put the game away in the top of the eighth inning to give the St. Louis Cardinals an 8-3 victory. The big inning was enabled by an error from Jose Ramirez, setting the stage for Holliday’s blast to take the first game of the three game series.
