1931 – The Indians’ Wes Ferrell joins the no-hit club with a 9-0 shutout over the St. Louis Browns in Cleveland. It is the fifth no-hitter in franchise history and the team’s first since 1919.

The victory was Cleveland’s fourth straight to push their record to 9-3 and was Ferrell’s fourth win on the young season. He allowed just three walks in the contest and struck out eight. He helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run while driving in four runs, a game high.

He was aided by two-hit games from Johnny Burnett, Earl Averill, Bill Hunnefield, and Luke Sewell. Averill drove in a pair and hit his third home run on the season. Hunnefield had a tough day in the field, committing three errors to give him eleven on the season.
