Today in Tribe History: December 28, 1960

Future Cleveland Indians pitching coach Carl Willis is born in Danville, Virigina.

A former right-handed reliever for nine seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and Minnesota Twins, Willis joined the Indians organization after elbow injuries ended his playing career. After working as a minor league pitching coach in Cleveland’s farm system from 1997 to 2002, he joined the staff of Eric Wedge with the Indians in 2003. He remained in the role until 2009.
