Cleveland Indians reliever Cody Allen is born in Orlando, Florida.

The Indians’ 23rd round pick in the 2011 amateur draft debuted just one year, one month, and five days after signing with the club after skyrocketing through the minor league system. After earning a 3.72 ERA in 27 games in his debut year of 2012, he improved to 6-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 77 games in 2013. Last season, he finished the year 6-4 with 24 saves and a 2.07 ERA in 76 games, used almost exclusively as a closer after the first two months of the season.
