Arizona Fall League Week Four Round-Up

With just under two weeks left of the Arizona Fall League, the Indians prospects are certainly doing their part to compete in the dessert. As members of the Surprise Saguaros, they stand at a record of 13-7, three games ahead of Glendale for first place in the AFL West division.

Outfielder Tyler Naquin still leads the AFL in hits with 27 and fourth in RBIs. Naquin holds the league-best hit streak at 12 games. Naquin has also been put on the roster for the Fall Stars Game, the two teams representing East and West are made up of 50 of the best players in this year’s AFL, takes place on November 2 at 5 pm at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.

Naquin is not the only Tribe farmhand performing well at the plate. During a November 1 game against the Scottsdale Scorpions, Naquin, second baseman Joey Wendle and catcher Tony Wolters combined for five hits, four runs, and three RBIs in a 6-3 victory.

Meanwhile the Indians arms have dealt with a mixed bag of results, including a sore shoulder injury for reliever Trey Haley. As a replacement, the Indians added 27-year-old reliever Tyler Sturdevant to the Saguaros squad. In 30.2 innings this fall, Tribe arms have allowed 19 runs, 16 of those earned. One bright spot recently has been hard-throwing righty Shawn Armstrong, who has allowed just one run in his last six innings of relief. Starter Will Roberts also put together a better start last time out logging five innings and giving up three runs on five hits while fanning three.
