In East Chicago, Indiana future Cleveland outfielder Kenny Lofton is born. Lofton played with the Tribe on three separate occasions (1992-96, 1998-2001 and 2007). He won four Gold Gloves in that time as well as appearing on five All-Star teams. Lofton is the franchise’s all-time leader in stolen bases with 452.
