On this week’s podcast Erik Pinkerman, Ronnie Tellalian and Mike Brandyberry talk about the injury to closer Chris Perez and how serious it is concerning the Tribe’s season and who could possibly replace him in the closer’s role if he is unable to start the season on time.

This week they talk Indians bench candidates and how it will be constructed. The three-man weave talk about the bench players who are certain to make the club and where Yan Gomes, Jason Giambi, Ryan Raburn and Ezequiel Carrera all fit in the Tribe’s plans.

They end the podcast with a conversation about if the Indians are still considering Kyle Lohse and if they have an advantage to sign him with the new draft pick compensation rules.

  1. I keep thinking we have a potential deal with San Diego. I’d love to see the tribe pick up Yasmani Grandal or Yonder Alonso or Andrew Cashner. I would be willing to offer Marson, Carrera and Jimenez. I’ll keep dreaming…

You will have to keep dreaming Dervish. That trade, or anything like it, is impossible to happen. You are looking for young players with high potential from San Diego for two backups and the worst starting pitcher in the AL last year. Marson and Carrera are bench players. You can’t get young, MLB-ready players for bench players. Sorry to shatter your dream, but I think San Diego would hang up the phone if Cleveland called with that kind of deal in mind.
