Chris Perez Out 3-4 Weeks with Shoulder Strain

By Mike Brandyberry

The Cleveland Indians announced Friday that closer Chris Perez suffered a subscapularis strain in his right shoulder during his last outing on Feb 26.

Perez will not throw for the next seven to 10 days and will begin a Return To Throwing Program when he is asymptomatic.  He is expected to resume exhibition game activity in three to four weeks.  Perez will not participate in the World Baseball Classic as originally scheduled. He was supposed to leave the Indians on Saturday and report to Team USA.

Perez left the Indians’ Spring Training facilities without comment. He will address the media tomorrow at 9AM MT.  Terry Francona will address Perez injury post-game today on the field.
