Cleveland Indians first baseman Chris Chambliss receives 11 of 24 first place votes to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award. Chambliss hit .275 that season with 9 home runs and 48 RBI. He would play two more full seasons and a small part of a third with the Tribe before being traded to the New York Yankees in 1974.
