A pitchers’ duel at Tiger Stadium takes place between Tom Candiotti and Jack Morris. Candiotti pitches his second one-hitter of the season, but unfortunately walks seven batters and makes an error. The Indians end up losing by a final score of 2 – 1. Detroit catcher Matt Nokes’ single with two out in the 8th is the Tigers’ only hit. Morris only gives up 5 hits himself as he picks up his 16th victory of the season.
