Today In Tribe History; August 12, 1994

Compiled by Jason Kaminski

After finishing 1993 with a record of 76-86 and 19 games out of first place, the ’94 season saw the Tribe making big strides. The Indians moved into their new ballpark, Jacobs Field, and were battling the Chicago White Sox for first place in the newly formed Central Division. However, on August 12 the Tribe saw their hopes of a playoff appearance come to a screeching halt when the MLB Players’ Union made it official that they were going on strike. The Tribe stood a single game out of first place with a record of 66-47, it was the first season in 90 years that a World Series was not played.
