In the 10th inning of a game against the New York Yankees, Joe DiMaggio hits a line drive that third baseman Odell Hale deflects into foul territory. One umpire calls it foul, so the Indians leftfielder Moose Solters fails to chase after the ball. But the other umpire overrules the first, allowing the winning run to score because of the Solters’ idleness. Cleveland’s protest of the game will be upheld.
