Lonnie Chisenhall has a day he will never forget, as the Indians third baseman goes a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate and drives in nine runs to tie Cleveland’s franchise record in a 17-7 destruction of the Rangers in Texas.

The Indians scored three in the first, including an RBI-single from Chisenhall to score the second run. He came up again in the second and, with two outs, hit a two-run homer down the right field line to make it an 8-1 lead. The Rangers scored three runs in the third to chase starter T.J. House, but Chisenhall came to the plate with Jason Kipnis on base again and sent his second homer of the night deep to the seats in right-center to make it a 12-4 Tribe lead.

Chisenhall drove in his sixth run on the night in the top of the sixth, as his RBI-double to left-center scored Michael Brantley. After three straight Tribe singles to lead off the eighth, he tied the club record with his seventh, eighth, and ninth RBI of the day on a three-run blast down the right field line, his third homer of the game. The five-hit game raised his season batting average from .365 to .385 and would be the third of five straight multi-hit games by the Indians third baseman. It also extended his hitting streak to seven games, one that would last two more games.

The record day tied Chris James’ nine-RBI day, the team’s club record, set May 4, 1991, in Oakland against the Athletics. It was the second five-hit game of the season for Chisenhall, who previously accomplished that feat on May 14 in a 15-4 win in Toronto over Blue Jays.
