2009 – The Cleveland Indians spoil the Yankees’ Saturday, thumping New York by a 22-4 final.

The Yankees jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning on a two-run home run by Mark Teixeira off of Fausto Carmona (Roberto Hernandez). Cleveland responded with authority against New York starter Chien-Ming Wang. Travis Hafner and Jhonny Peralta each singled and scored on a Shin-Soo Choo home run. After an out, Ben Francisco doubled, Asdrubal Cabrera singled him in, Grady Sizemore doubled, Mark DeRosa doubled both home and scored on an RBI-single from Victor Martinez. Anthony Claggett took over on the mound but the onslaught continued, as Hafter doubled as the tenth man to bat and Peralta doubled both base runners home. A walk to Choo and a single by Ryan Garko loaded the bases and, after a Francisco strikeout, Cabrera slugged a grand slam to deep right field and Sizemore followed with a blast to right-center. A total of 14 runs scored on 13 hits and a walk.

The Indians added single runs in the third, fourth, eighth, and ninth, and scored four in the fifth. DeRosa led the way with four hits in seven at bats and a team-high six RBI. Cabrera had four hits and drove in five. Sizemore, Hafner, and Peralta had three hits each. Ten of the eleven Indians batters to step to the plate in the blowout got hits. The win improved the disappointing Cleveland record to 4-8.
