For the first time since 1954, the Cleveland Indians play a postseason game. They host the Boston Red Sox in a marathon for the ages. Five hours after the first pitch, Indians backup catcher and former Red Sox backstop Tony Pena takes pitcher Zane Smith deep to the bleachers in left with two outs in a 3-0 count in the bottom of the 13th to give Cleveland a 5-4 win at Jacobs Field.
Three years later, the Indians will notch a late comeback victory in Boston against the Red Sox to take that ALDS and advance to an ALCS matchup with the New York Yankees.
