The Cleveland Indians trade outfielder Brian Giles to the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Ricardo Rincón. At a time when the Indians made multiple positive moves for the team, this is seen as one of the more short-sighted deals completed. With an already crowded outfield Giles was seen as expendable and he went on to become an all-star for Pittsburgh hitting 35+ homers in each of the next four seasons while driving in an average of 100+ runs in that time as well.
