Today in Tribe History: December 1, 1964
Cleveland obtains outfielder Chuck Hinton from the Senators for first baseman Bob Chance and infielder Woodie Held. Hilton is coming off an all-star season and will show pop at the plate with 18 homers in 1965. He spends the next six of seven seasons in Cleveland although his power numbers will steadily decline. Held was a star shortstop for Cleveland for seven seasons hitting 130 home runs in that span. The Tribe made the move at the right time however as Held’s numbers greatly declined, hitting only 25 total home runs over those final five years of his career.
