In a surprising move, Indians slugger Ken “Hawk” Harrelson announces his retirement from baseball to join the pro golf tour. Harrelson was in his ninth year as a player (third with Cleveland) and was struggling to stay above the “Mendoza Line” so he decided to hang it up and pursue golf. His most notable appearance was in the 1972 British Open. Harrelson is now the play-by-play TV analyst for the Chicago White Sox.
