Today in Tribe History: March 14, 2003
Dependent on passing a physical, free agent and former Indians center fielder Kenny Lofton agrees to a one-year pact to play with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. Lofton will start in center field, moving another former Tribe player Brian Giles to left field and Reggie Sanders going to right. This would be Lofton’s seventh team in his 13 year career and he would be traded to the Chicago Cubs midseason for their playoff run. Lofton would play four more seasons after this for five different teams including a final stint with the Cleveland Indians before retiring.
