Cleveland Indians pitcher Ben McDonald undergoes surgery on his right shoulder. He will be out for the season. McDonald was a highly touted phenom drafted #1 overall by Baltimore in the 1989 amateur draft. Though he had a couple decent seasons, he never really reached his potential due to countless arm problems. He was acquired by Cleveland in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers two months prior to the surgery and would be traded back to Milwaukee a month later. He would never throw another pitch in the big leagues.
