Today in Tribe History: February 17, 1944

Compiled by Jason Kaminski

On this date in 1944 former Cleveland Indians pitcher Dick Bosman is born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Bosman played for Cleveland from 1973-1975 posting very average numbers but his “claim to fame” would come on July 19, 1974 when he threw a no-hitter against the Oakland Athletics. The game was nearly a perfect one as the only Oakland baserunner to reach was on Bosman’s own throwing error. (Bonus tidbit: If you visit Melt Bar and Grilled in Lakewood, OH check out the framed newspaper story about this game near the front entrance.)
