The Tribe acquire infielder Billy Martin and starter Al Cicotte from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for relievers Ray Narleski, Don Mossi and shortstop Ossie Alvarez. All of the players involved would only spend one season at their new destinations except for pitcher Don Mossi. Mossi had spent the previous five seasons with the Indians and had solid numbers out of the bullpen, a 34-27 record and a 3.34 ERA. However in Detroit,  Mossi was used primarily as a starting pitcher and continued having success as he gathered 59 more wins over five more seasons and had a solid 3.49 ERA.
