Former Cleveland pitcher Satchel Paige is nominated for the Hall of Fame based on his playing time in the Negro Leagues. On June 10 the Hall’s new Special Committee on the Negro Leagues will formally select Paige for induction. Paige was widely regarded as the best pitcher in the Negro Leagues and became Major League Baseball’s oldest rookie when he signed with the Cleveland Indians in 1948 at the age of 42.
