The White Sox send fan favorite Minnie Minoso and infielder Fred Hatfield to the Indians for pitcher Early Wynn and outfielder Al Smith. Wynn, coming off his first losing season, will rebound with the White Sox, topping the American League in wins and innings next season. The trade is the first for the new Indians’ general manager, Frank Lane.
