The Cleveland Indians may try to adjust their schedule so that all of their remaining 150 games are played in the opposing team’s ballpark. A 6-1 start on the road will make a team think like that. The Tribe will try to get their third straight series victory on the road tonight in Oakland.
Indians’ hitters will face off against Brandon McCarthy
(0-2, 3.60 ERA) who is still looking for his first win of the season. McCarthy will be making his fifth start of the season thanks to the quirky schedule that the Athletics started the season with, a four game series in Japan with the Seattle Mariners that started in March.
This could be a good night for Casey Kotchman
to get things going. In his career against McCarthy, Kotchman is 7 for 15 with a double and two RBI. Travis Hafner
may be licking his chops as well. In 12 at bats against the righty, he has four hits, two of which went for home runs.
(0-0, 2.25 ERA) will also be looking for his first win of the season but part of that is because of the way he stood up for his teammates in Kansas City. Gomez, who is appealing a five-game suspension, will pitch tonight and then drop his appeal. Gomez has looked very sharp in his limited outings. He has only thrown four innings but seems to have carried over his Spring success into the regular season.
The Indians and A’s play an “early” game tonight with the first pitch being thrown at 9:07 local time, 6:07 in Oakland. Catch all the action on STO or on the Cleveland Indians Radio Network.
