Today in Tribe History: January 29, 1958
The Cleveland Indians buy first baseman Mickey Vernon from the Boston Red Sox for the waiver price. The move pays off as the 40-year old Vernon makes his final All-Star appearance. Vernon would retire two years later as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates capping off a respectable 20 year career.
